Questions answered

Q

Isn't Brujeria just witchcraft in Spanish?

A

That’s a loaded question. The simplest answer is NO. Where Witch translates to Bruja or Brujo depending on the practitioner’s sex. Brujeria is actually a tradition of witchcraft practiced in Mexico. We can group Brujeria into witchcraft just like we can group Hoodoo, British Traditional Witchcraft, and Wicca into witchcraft. But honestly they each have their own flavor and it is no different with Brujeria.

Q

What's your witch name? You said it isn't Blue Rain Orchid.

A

Ha! You’re a sneaky one aren’t you. I love it! I go by La Patrona, La Bruja Chingona, Madrina, Bruja, Witch, B-Witch, and a few others. . . So here’s the thing. Way back when, witches were hunted and killed. Don’t worry it’s not a history lesson. When they were tortured they were expected to give names of other witches. When you used a “witch name” which was only used when with other witches, it was a way of staying safe. I can’t give a Christian given name like Jane Doe or Rebecca Bishop if I knew her as River Night. I would only be able to offer River Night or Willow Moon. See the point. K
